July 2015 Presidents Message

July really drives home that it’s summer. Long hot sunny days make us want to be outside exploring, traveling and enjoying the delights of living in Oregon. And for our July regular meeting, we’re going to do all that plus throw in a picnic too. Yes, it’s time for our annual picnic at the Rice Museum

Date: Thursday, July 9th. This is our regular meeting night, but we will meet at the Rice Museum.

Trailer repair

Our trailer has been leaking a little rainwater over the winter and we need to reseal the roof. The club is looking for some people to help out with this project. Get in touch with me if you have some skill and or time to help with this project before the rains come again.

Coming up…

August 1 & 2nd

Summer Fest at the Rice Museum. The club will have a booth. We need people to staff it.

September 12-13

OMSI Mini Makers Faire

The club will have a booth and we need people to staff it. This fun event attracts nearly 10,000 people over the two days. Come out and have some fun, meet lots of people and let’s talk rocks!

October

The Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show – Oct. 9-11. Our biggest Gem and Mineral Show of the year. Displays, presentations and demonstrations galore. Get involved.

Set up will be on Wednesday the 7th and Thursday the 8th. There will be no regular meeting on the 8th. Instead, members are asked to come and help us set up. Set-up starts at 9AM and there will be a lunch served on Wednesday for the workers and a potluck dinner on Thursday for all the vendors and club members.
