I feel like October just swooshed by us. With the weather being so warm and dry, I feel like Fall has been dragging it’s heels and Summer just wants to hang on. No complaints from me on that except some important things that should have happened in October, didn’t.
Elections & Bylaws
November is a very important month for the club. We have only one meeting – on the 12th because our second one falls on Thanksgiving. Elections take place at this meeting, and by this time, we’re supposed to know who’s running for each office. But we don’t. We are still seeking nominations for President, Vice President and Secretary. Now that really concerns me. If there are no candidates… what then? Our nominating committee chairman this year is Walt Butler, so if you have someone to nominate, please submit nominations to him.
We will also be voting on updates to our Bylaws and Operating Procedures. The update committee has worked long hours on these updates and a copy has been sent to every member. The Board recommends these updates be passed so be sure to attend this meeting and have your vote be counted.
We also have several nominees for member of the year. This will be a secret ballot with the winner being announced at the upcoming Holiday Banquet. We have more info on both of these subjects in this edition of the HY GRADER.
Our end of year Inauguration Banquet is scheduled for Saturday, December 5th. Molly Brady, Tiffany Jackson and Kayla Blarcom are planning an elegant mid afternoon affair for us with some great decorations, delicious food and a really nice location. I understand we’ll also have a White Elephant Gift Exchange, door prizes and a silent auction. It promises to be a fun time and don’t forget, this is also when our Member of the Year winner is announced. Who will it be?
Our holiday party will at 2 PM at the Prime Time Restaurant. The planning committee has reserved a private room for our shindig, but it comes with a minimum, so please plan on attending. I look forward to seeing you there.
