The Crater Rock Museum Annual Gem, Jewelry, and Mineral Show is April 2-3, 2016, in the Osrun Arena, Jackson County Fairgrounds, Central Point, Oregon. Times are Saturday 9-4 and Sunday 10-4. The event is produced by the Crater Rock Museum and Roxy Ann Gem and Mineral Society.
The event will feature Eric Lindquist demonstrating how to create holograms and their potential uses as a special presenter.
There will be demonstrations of jewelry making including wire-wrapping, cabbing, and wearable art. Other presentations include rock and gem identification with several gemstone and rock experts. There will also be auctions and more fun and entertainment for families and individuals.
Crater Rock Museum is a short drive from the expo center and it will be open for visitors Saturday from 10-4. The museum features an exceptional display of rocks, minerals, and gems of the West Coast of the United States. They have petrified woods, Native American artifacts, agates, fossils, and more in its 12,000 sq. ft. museum with meeting rooms, gift shop, workshop, and exhibits.
Central Point and the Crater Rock Museum is about a 4.5 hour drive from Beaverton. If anyone is interested in carpooling, please bring it up at our next meeting. Note that guided tours are by appointment only.
