It’s Showtime again! I love October because it means the Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show is here. This is not only the largest show in the Pacific NW, it’s the best darn show this side of Tucson. There’s something for every interest and our collective metro area clubs really show off the Portland talent pool and the fantastic quality of our collections in the display area. There are plenty of opportunities, from working with the crew at the front door, assisting at the silent auction, helping with kid’s corner, or you can take a few shifts as a show monitor (security). Also, our club is in charge of the R&R room (the break room), so members are encouraged to bring cookies, snacks and other treats to help Gayle Butler, this years chairman, keep the room stocked.
The theme for this years Kids Corner is dinosaurs. If you can donate any plastic dinosaurs for the sales table they’d be grateful. They don’t have to be new, but please make sure they are clean. Continue reading “October Presidents Message”
